IT, Thanks for the recommendation, I have the book and am longing to start reading it, but I never seem to have free time, despite all my good intentions. It's too bulky to take on the train.

Simon, I have very fond memories of my Midget, I had it for 7 years, then fancied something warmer as our British climate doesn't suit draughty, sporty little numbers like this. It was fantastic fun and very reliable though.

Re: Salonica. I suggest you read "The Ghosts of Salonica" by Mark Mazower. It's a very powerful narrative of the city's history.

well, well well,!

We had a 1969 mg Midget with the 1275cc engine. and a 1971 MGB-L flow through...

Both terrific cars.. my only "incident" was when the bolt fell out of the steering in the midget whilst driving and for a split second the wheel came off the spline whilst driving...I quickly managed to wack it back on in one motion but it shorted the horn out and we arrived at the car club meeting point with horn blaring. The horn was positioned in front of the radiator , behind the grill... the only means of turning the horn off was to disconnect the battery..then remove the grill..all taking time...

On the same day the distributor flew out of the side of the engine ( the mechanic forgot to tighten it)..this casued the time to go completely off... causing a massive flame to pour out of the exhaust.....

That evening it rained and water leaked through the grommet of the wiper blade on the drivers side..so much that it flooded the floor, and my good pants looked like i had wet myself....

All on an MG car club run and all on the first outing with a girlfriend.... she never ent out with me again....

The MGB was another story..rebuilt by a german engineer. It had Jag SU carbs, flat top pistons etc etc..ran on racing fuel ....

Quick car!

Are people pleased or do they feel annoyed when they get tagged? I guess I depends what it is about and how much free time you have. I have just had to decline one from Nourishing Obscurity because I have no free time right now due to my PR diploma assignment deadline, but it is the first time I have not responded. Some of them are fun, but I would prefer not have one every other day - every other month is plenty long enough.
