You know, Lady Ellee, given the content of your blog and the standing you are in, I wouldn't be surprised if she did read your blog.

I recall the Monty Python episode in which they expected the Queen to be tuning in at any minute... and, at every false alarm, everyone stood and "God Save the Queen" was played.

Oddly enough that song sounds just like "My Country 'Tis of Thee"....

Maybe you don't have Monty Python re-run over and over again over there these past 30-something years as we have had here....

The Queen probably has someone quietly tell her who people are before they meet them. Still, perhaps I can direct Her Majesty to 'Captain Picard's Journal' if she is reading this one?

I thought Iain was not being his modest self, with that response to HM about being the "author of one of the most widely read blogs in Britain"!! I can't imagine HM reading blogs but I'll bet she is briefed about them. She's got enough to do sorting out her awful family!

My point, Ellee. I just don't see here saying "Oh Hi, Mr Dale, I so agreed with your blog. I agree exactlt with your assessment of the man who will undoubtably be turning up to kiss my hand when Tony's gone off to Tuscany for good."
It would be a constitutional scandal, if it were true. That's not to say that Iain Dale's assessment of Gordon is not spot on, but otherwise we must put some of the more- ahem- creative elements of the tale down to artistic license.

Joe, Her Majesty could enjoy reading blogs, but I agree it is unlikely that she would participate by taking it any further than that.

There is one factor which gives the lie to the story...
The one thing you can say is that the queen never outs a foot wrong. She knows the unwritten constitution.
There is no way she would be caught telling a member of the public anything which could be construed as her private opinion of a member of her own government.
Charles on the other hand...

Your Highness, So delighted for gracing my site, I am, after all, a mere commoner, and apologies for overlooking your comment. This certainly marks a new era for the royal family and its future communications at grassroots level.

Of course one blogs. Had you read my post on Iain Dale's Diary you would have read that I stated we had not met in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Tom, nice to hear from you. I have no idea, except what Iain says! If she did, I'm sure she would be having a flutter as Heather suggests.
