A day in York
Posted by Ellee on Jan 19, 2007 in Uncategorized | 9 commentsI’m heading off to York today to meet up with Julian Sturdy and his tea
m and discuss a communications strategy. He is contesting the new constituency of York Outer and stands an excellent chance of winning it.
Julian has already been getting excellent coverage in the local media, and I’m hoping to get him started with a blog soon.
Let’s hope that normal train services have resumed today and that I manage to get a seat - otherwise I will be standing for much longer than half an hour if I am unlucky.

Nemania, Obviously Julian is Conservative.
James, I love York too, but there was no time to take in the sights, it was heads down, all work.
IT, Thanks for the comment re Bob Piper, I am naturally flattered he finds me interesting enough to write about.
IstabulTory, Yes, Julian is Robert’s son, a great chip off the old block.
Jim, There were delays both ends of the journey, though I did manage to get a seat on my return trip for which I was thankful. However, on my outward journedy I had to stand and shared a crushed corridor with some great commuters and our high spirits ensured it was a reasonably pleasurable trip.
Are you familiar with York, Ellee? It’s my home territory and Betty’s Tearooms and the Minster and all that. Do you like the north?
Enjoy your time in York; it’s a lovely city.
Many Many years ago i lived at RAF linton-on-ouse, which is near York. If i Remember right there was a great market in York.
Hope you had a good day Ellee, will be walking 16 miles on sunday, with a local group, near lakenheath, your always welcome to join me. Good practise for next week-end
I see Bob Piper is having a bit of a laugh at your expense. I have put him to rights (if my comment passes his moderation)
Would I be right in thinking that he is the son of Robert Sturdy MEP? As to his politics, I haven’t a clue. A loyal Cameronie I hope….
I love York, we used to cycle there 60 miles each way when I was about 9 or so and stay in the YHA. When I was older like 14/15 I used to go train spotting there on my own a nice 120 mile day out
What are his politics then ?
Good luck with your travels Ellee. I undestand there is still much disruption in the north.
