I spent about an hour at a wrong wedding reception in Germany. It was the wedding of a work colleague and I didn’t know his family at all. When I got to the Castle place they were having two receptions in different rooms, and when i went in I asked where the groom was and I was told he was getting changed. So I got a drink and joined in the dancing, eating etc. I only noticed when they started giving speeches and the groom was back in his seat…

I was going to my cousin’s wedding. I went to her house first to drop off the present. Marching in through the back door I was surprised to see the place was in the middle of being decorated. Strange timing I thought. Even stranger was to see the man painting the living room turn round and stare at me. ‘I’m in the wrong house, aren’t I?’ I said. ‘Sorry, sorry.’ Beat a hasty retreat and went to my cousin’s house next door but one.

Can’t say I’ve ever been to the wrong wedding or funeral. Mind you can’t say I’ve ever been to a funeral.

No but I heard a joke yesterday – man wakes up in hospital and is told by the doc that he’s been in a road accident and he’s ok, no neck or back injuries, loss of limb or anything but… they had to cut his penis off. The good news is that while he’s been in a coma he’s suffered no brain damage and been awarded £9000 compensation and.. they can reconstruct a penis at a cost of £1000 per inch. The doc insists on discharging him from hospital so he can discuss the procedure with his wife of 24 years – after all, said the doc, it might affect your marriage; if you had 9″ before she might be unhappy with less but if you had 5″ and you could spend the extra money on other things then that’s a decision you need to both agree on. The man sees the sense in this and goes home to discuss things with his wife. He comes back two weeks later and informs the doc of their decision – they’re having a new kitchen.

I haven’t but I think it’s only a matter of time… I’ve often dived into the gents toilet instead of the ladies though. In fact I did it again last Saturday in Plymouth at the theatre. Saw a fellow coming out and thought, ‘I wonder if he knows he’s – er – oh.’ And beat a hasty retreat!!
