I think they go as they see it as the only way out of an impossible situation….Or its the start of some mental illness and breakdown… or they are just cowards and run rather than stay and sort things out.

I have to admit I have never fantasised about starting a “new life”. Personally, continuity with the rest of my life is paramount. Maybe I’m just lucky.

Yes I read that piece too – fascinating absolutely, but so terrible for the people left behind – there was a great description of them in that piece. Something to do with pergatory etched onto their faces.

The woman’s demands just become too much to take. She can no longer be reasoned with and all her plans do not include his interests any more – so he leaves. This is not a justification but it is the reason.
