A city break like this was a great change because I want my sons to feel confident and enjoy their capital city. They certainly loved Covent Garden and the street theatre, and all the shops too! They spent more time shopping than I did. We managed to get to the hotel gym too.

We were rudely woken up by a blogger at 2.30am one morning as she was concerned about a comment posted on another blogger's post and she wanted me to tell her. As if I was going to call anyone at that unearthly time of the day. I was so cross it took me an hour to get back to sleep.

We saw two shows, we bought tickets for Billy Elliott again, but I'm afraid the star of the show did not live up to the previous young actor we had seen in this role. He seemed to be miscast and looked only 8 years old, far too young and unpolished for such a starring role.

I met up with a girlfriend for some culture and we visited the RA's Summer Exhibition. I don't see how Tracey Emin can be pandered to in such a way, how can a zebra fornicating with a woman be called art? We then saw the much gentler exhibition of Vilhelm Hammershoi.

I really enjoyed the Sanctuary Spa and the mud treatment I had there. My skin was glowing for days afterwards. I also had a hair analysis which showed by hair needs rehydrating, I should use one of those little spritzer sprays on it in the hot weather.

I'm enjoying my new kitchen immensely and can't stop cooking. The boys love coming home to lovely smells from the oven and have been rapturous in their praise of my culinary skills. They much prefer this kind of mum to one they see glued to the computer on her blog.

I'm looking forward to visiting North Norfolk at the weekend to see some friends who are camping on a clifftop near Sheringham, a glorious location. This is one of my favourite places in the world.

David gets his exam results tomorrow, so I must help get him organised for his next major step in life which I must say he is really looking forward to.

He enjoyed his birthday trip to Ascot with friends, even though it was cold and wet and none of us came away any richer.

I am working today with my plant scientists and am then helping with a CEO appraisal at Headway. I want to get to the gym later today too.

And I have to write my book as well by the end of the year.

Somehow, it will all get done....
