My biggest worry at the moment is the health of my mother-in-law which is, sadly, declining. She fell last night and we had to go and help Stephen’s dad. He needs our help and support every day right now. I don’t want to leave her like that.

I am sure it will be fine Ellee, I don’t think it is quite as common as everyone is making out. Suspected cases often turn out to be not so as was said.

I dread developing a fear of flying since we can’t get anywhere much without it.

Fee, It’s so lovely to hear from you, and I hope you stay well enough to enjoy your next trip.

Trubes, good questions, and I share your concern at the lack of info about this from experts. I guess it is because we are venturing into unknown territory. I have seen one woman wearing a mask in Boots during the first couple of weeks when swine flu was announced, but nobody else since.

Hi Ellee,
Well, as you know i am a bit worried about this swine flu thing….and we are going on this wonderful cruise with you too so i am even more anxious not to get it. However, i feel more relaxed now because i have phoned the cruise company who have reassurred me they are not making checks to passengers unlike the airports and turning people away. So, we just have to accept we will get onboard and cope with it if we get it! They also have antivirals onboard and advise common sense, and stay in your cabins if you feel unduly unwell.
Regarding the previous comment about how do we know who has got it and who hasn’t as the GPs are not swabbing, i share the same logic. The figures must be wildly out, i guess a good % of those treated havnt actually got swine flu and have probably got a bad summer cold! Can’t wait to ‘embark’, happy holidays!

It’s such a worry Elle and I share your concern.
What I want to know is, How can the medics be sure that their patients actually have Swine Flu if they are not seeing them and making a proper diagnosis?
Surely swabs must be taken and assessed professionally.
If it is becoming ‘pandemic’, why arn’t people being advised to wear masks in public places, and, how can we believe a word this Government
says when they have lied to us over every major crisis in this ailing country?

Hey Ellee.. I thoroughly understand your swine flu concern, I’m working in an office where there have been several confirmed cases and I’m very worried.
In addition to that I have done a bit of flying myself this summer and I will be doing so again next week, therefore, I too am almost certainly more at risk!
Unfortunately however, there isn’t a lot either of us can do, so I guess we just need to keep taking our vitamins and try not get too stressed about it..
I hope you and your family have a wonderful time on the cruise
