Vic, of course Lib Dems will do their utmost to retain this seat. We have to hope Cambridge Conservatives select a strong candidate and can attract committed volunteers and work their hardest to win Cambridge again.

Former Cambridge Tory, I think your comment is a bit harsh. I have met some of the young blood in the association and thought they were terrific. We need a mix of young and experienced members.

I would think that volunteer recruitment will be easier this time around – but it’s not all about you (i.e. the Tories). Surely it’s the Lib Dems’ seat to lose? I doubt Cambridge Lib Dems will let it go without a fight. (Hi Eric!)

Frugal Dougal, Yes, I agree, Richard did a very good job and was a great credit to Cambridge.

I regard elections like football matches (you can tell I live in a male dominated household!) because the thrill is in the unexpected happening, which it often does, and is why nothing can ever be taken for granted at the polls. Cambridge is a gem of a city and would be a great prize.

As with the whole country, I reckon the result in Cambridge is by no means a done deal until the moment the polls close. However, the next Cambridge Parliamentary Candidate will have a boost because of the sterling work done by Richard Normington.

Alex, very true, but there is a surfeit of excellent Conservative candidates. Let’s hope they apply for Cambridge and make the city blue again.
