Its the kids who seem to do the most running around in their PJs during the day here -- of course, I can't always tell what is intended as sleepwear and what is intended as merely (and extraordinarily) informal. (College campuses must seem like a 24/7 pajama party some days.) But one also does see the occasional person who is old enough to know better in the grocery or a discount store -- and it is never, in such cases, anything other than frightening to see. Perhaps the ban you write about could exported to America?

Oh i think there is a difference between Tracksuit bottoms and pj’s. I would not go out in tracksuit bottoms either, unless for keepfit or something like that, or and real emergency.

Some people must be really lazy as not to bother to change clothes. Good for Tesco.

Hi Philipa ,
Yes all these modes of dress are revolting especially as most of those wearing such have mounds of fat thats all on show .
Perhaps we should go the opposite way to the French and make them all cover up !

Oh dear Ellee you should have put a public warning on the tag to the BBC interview with the wench from Cardiff.
She sounds just like Vicky Pollard .
Loved the bit where she desribes going into the shop " early at 11am for her fags "
No doubt just about the time she'd got out of bed .

Good on Tescos, this sort of get up in a food store is repulsive.
They have worn these clothes all night in bed and then cant be bothered to get dressed its just slob behaviour .
No sense of self respect comes to mind .
And that bit about " how difficult it is to get three kids ready for school without getting dolled up yourself " !
Years ago working class women and men wore proper clothes all the time ( including best boots on Sundays )however poor they were .
The men wore jackets or suits plus hats and the women frocks , hats and aprons .
They wouldnt have been seen dead at their front door in their nightware never mind go down to the shops in such garb.
No wonder their children often are so lacking in social skills and graces.

It is surprising that someone would shop in their nightwear. But even so she is more covered up that some people who shop in normal clothes with their bellies and other bits of flesh hanging out.

I couldn't believe that people go shopping in their jamjams! I'm going to tell my Italian students and I'll let you know what they say. Why would anyone want ONE tarantula?!!

I Like their slogan or what do we call this:

"Footwear must be worn at all times and no nightwear is permitted."
