Am I the only one who misses Christmas carols being played in our shopping centres and stores? Instead, the festive atmosphere is silent and sombre and I miss feeling that warm glow inside when I hear those lovely carols.
No doubt political correctness is to blame, especially as our supermarkets are reported to shun selling religious themed Christmas cards for this reason.
Even the buskers in Cambridge were not playing carols when I shopped there a few days ago.
Come on, let’s play those carols and add some festive cheer to those last few shopping hours.
And Merry Christmas everyone ! xxx
come to Tesco they play the same Christmas c/d over and over again and does not fill the workers full of Christmas cheer lol
Merry Christmas to you and your family x x x
Hi Sally, that doesn’t happen in the Ely Tesco store, nor in M & S, John Lewis, or anywhere I have been.
Merry Christmas to you and your boys too and hope you all have a lovely time in Cambridge with Geoff. x
If no carols on the streets then enjoy carols indoors.. it’s warmer! Seriously here’s wishing you a very happy Christmas
It seems stores are terrified of offending anyone by mentioning it is Christmas.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Ellee.

I didn’t know they’d stopped doing it but I agree with you, Ellee. Merry Xmas from Sicily. x
I see that EastEnders is full of Christmas cheer … as usual.
Exeter had Christmas carols piped – albeit the Dean Martin style. I rehearsed six weeks in advance to be sure to include carols at my restaurant gigs and I wore a Santa hat.
Like the musicians on the deck of the stricken Titanic ‘No one listens to us during dinner either.’
I am continually amazed at the amount of musicians who think that a Christmas repertoire merely means putting on a hat and playing the same music as they usually do. Lazy in my point of view.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Ellee!
It makes you wonder if America’s founding fathers thought that welcoming the huddled masses would eventually silence their culture and way of life. I am all for diversity and welcoming new cultures, I cant however see that it is beneficial to give away everything that made your country unique in order to make those new people feel welcome. Would the other countries where these people come from give away their ways of life as easy?
