Welcome to Blue Shark, the inspirational new multimedia blog launched today by a bunch of very proactive young Tories.
I met Caroline Hunt when we sat on the sofa at 18 Doughty Street, she has verve, passion and intelligence and is a great force behind this new project. I hope it gets a good plug by Iain tonight.
This is what it’s all about:
“An exciting new multimedia blog aimed at young Conservatives. We feature interviews with political figures, a weekly podcast rounding up the news and a series of articles written by a wide range of conservative thinking young people. As well as this we will be linking to the funniest content on the net.
“Blue Shark TV aims to provide user driven content – we want people to contribute, send in videos, write articles, film reports – anything you fancy! We want to hear the voice of the Conservative youth in this country – and to have a few laughs along the way. Political and funny – that’s the aim.”
I hope it will be well supported by our leading Conservative politicians, that they recognise the talent of of our young Tories in pushing through the social media agenda this way, how it is empowering the voice of our young Tories who could one day be our future political leaders.
Blue Shark TV launches…
Last night saw the launch of new political blog, Blue Shark TV. It’s got podcasts and videos as well as the regular bloggy content and no doubt will feed off the appetitie the UK has for political blogumentaries ala 18…
Who could one day be our future political leaders?
Caroline Hunt has, she says , no interest in a political career and works in an area unrelated to politics. She says her tireless efforts spring from a “love of Conservatism “. Perhaps she is telling the truth, who knows.
There is a problem with Young Conservatives infesting political life in that they want “you” to help with their career whereas they offer you nothing in return, in fact less than nothing. I think their pernicious influence should be restrained by the party they are conformists and cynical careerists for the most part. They take over administrative roles and use them for filling in their CVs , they pretend to take an interesting the local scene which in fact they could not care less about it. Same with the party as a whole which to them is chiefly a vechile for self aggrandisement
This is especially difficult when political life is more and more elitist and exclusive and a “Career in the masses”, is becoming a sickening synonym for the pointless soap opera conducted between journalists and their oppos who are alarmingly similar.
They are generally odious to the voters and quite reasonably so. After all they have already already had to change their name once to disguise the sort of people they are.
I supopose there is no option but to have them but there is an unpleasant “Tommorow Belongs to me ” ..about the whole pack of them.
I don`t know about this one, to be fair, , she seems nice enough but her background speaks loudly against her.
Not the same blue shark as depicted on the lower cartoon on this page?
Newmania, You obviously have a stereo-type image of Young Tories, hopefully this new site will help blow away a few of those cobwebs. Even if Caroline does not want to pursue a political career, others who are actively involved in politics now, and using this social media, may well follow that path in the future.
I advise young people to by-pass CF and go where the action is: the main Assn.
Thanks for the really kind words Ellee! I hope you enjoy it.
Newmania I know you don’t believe me but it’s true. I do this for fun and because I take a keen interest in politics. Yes I promote the Tory cause but bellieve me it’s not to pump up my political CV. I like having a healthy work life balance too much!
And to Justin Hinchcliffe – if more associations helped foster a CF branch and put a CF officer on their executive then we wouldn’t be in an either or situation.
Humbug, Caroline.
Good luck to Caroline; it’s a fresh approach that uses the latest technology to pronote party values.
Caroline is saying what they all say and will change her mind at the appropriate time. It is impolitic to be seen to be exploiting other people`s time and effort for your own ends and yet that is the objective essentially.
I cannot tell you how many we get en route in Islignton and I have had enough of the whole silly pretence. Thats all.
Thanks for the link Ellee. This is the first I’ve heard anything about this, but it sounds very interesting. I’ll go check it out now.
Newmania in fighting form there. Perhaps we really should give Miss Hunt the benefit of the doubt as to her claim of no interest in a future political career. For my part, I would once have fought Blaneau Gwent or Glasgow Gorbals for the Conservatives. Those times are long gone…..
