Katie had no choice but to stand down last night after confessing that she could not swear to relocate if offered Sir Alan’s £100,000 job.
Surely that should have been a pre-requisite of being selected for The Apprentice, otherwise it’s pretty pointless taking part. Was she really interested in the job, or simply looking for fame, as so many think?
I remember a very promising political candidate being asked during a selection panel if he would relocate to the constituency if selected. He admitted he had not even discussed it with his wife. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
I’m disappointed, Katie would have added some spark to next week’s finals. However, I’m sure it’s not the last we have heard of her.
Blimey! I didn’t realise that a reality TV show had to be like real life! No wonder I’ve been going wrong all this time. I thought it was just entertainment.
I think Sir Alan did the right thing by putting her “on the spot”. I did hold my breath wondering if she was going to do the decent thing and withdraw from the competition. Untrue to character I was pleased that she did. She was in my opinion on an ego trip. Fluttering her eyelashes at Sir Alan seemed to work.
Leaving aside all the Katie dramatics, clearly Amstrad doesn’t have any process for assisting managers in relocation nor offer any family-friendly policies to help working mothers.
I wonder if Katie will ever work in business again. She may make her fortune, but it will be as a media ‘pantomime witch’ or may get married to some rich guy with a dominatrix fetish – I need to make some more money then.
Katie only wanted the publicity and did not want to work for Sugar. All the contestants should sign a form saying they are ready to commit to moving should they win.
I was surprised too. I would have thought it would have been one of the first considerations before even applying. Okay, not before applying but certainly much earlier on. She was a hard bitch anyway. ‘I put my children first … but actually I don’t.’
I would have thought it would have been obvious to you both, John-Luc & Liz. She wanted to delay her success waiting for my divorce and for me to make some money.
I agree with Liz. Ghastly woman that Katie.
Sorry Alan’s show just doesn’t do it for me.
Not the panel – nor the candidates.
I think I’d rather watch paint dry, or goldfish blowing bubbles in a fish bowl.
this show is terrible. all ego’s and idiots; I can’t stand it.
I actually rather like her. I did think she was a bit flirtatious though.
You do have to relocate if you get a job offer like that. I must admit though I do frequently miss my family in Scotland and sometimes I feel isolated despite having some really good friends in London. Family is family and family is the best.
