“It must be done by legal means.” That is the line my husband speaks as an extra when he plays a lawyer in the newly released film, The Other Boleyn Girl, which we have yet to see.
My husband has a very loud and deep voice and I can imagine it resounded around Ely Cathedral.
However, it did not make King Henry V111 quake in his shoes, He demanded: “I don’t care how it is done, just do it,” referring to his divorce from his first wife.
We hope to see the film over Easter, even though it has had mixed reviews. If you going to see it, just listen for those words and remember who is speaking them.
And yes, my husband was late home after filming with Scarlett Johansson, but he got paid extra for doing overtime.
And even though he had a brief speaking role, he was still not allowed to eat with the actors who had lines. There is a clear divide between extras who just mill about in crowd scenes and speaking actors and as Stephen’s line was not scripted, but just added, he did not qualify to share his treacle pudding with the stars.
Any film extra will tell you, they get very well fed.
What fun he must have had. Well I suppose there is a lot of standing around and wasting time. I will look out for him.
Congratulations on the book Ellee, I hope it goes through. I’m commenting here as well because you site is so slow to load. Sorry.
When I see it, dubbed into Italian, I shall remember who is NOT speaking those words!
A film i would like to see but not Geoff’s cup of tea…. so will wait for it to come out on DVD
I remember hearing that line when I saw the film last Saturday!
The Other Boleyn Girl is one of my favourite books. The film was well made, although I think it could have been longer, as some storylines were cut.
How exciting to have even one line in a movie! And you with a book deal pending — even if it is as a ghost writer (hey, that’s a big part of what I do for a living) — it all sounds wonderful.
Congratulations.
I, on the other hand, would have merrily paid ‘them’ extra in order to work with Scarlett.
Hi Ellee, I was wavering about whether to see this film or not as I’d read the book by Philippa Gregory and loved it. But as you say, the film has received some mixed reviews. If I go, I’ll make a point of listening for that voice!
I loved the book and will probably see the film on DVD one day (not Husband’s sort of film). How exciting it must have been to be in it.
My daughter and I are hanging to see this film but I’m not sure if it’s suitable for her age!
She’s teen and rolls her eyes at me when I talk about censorship but she’s such a fan of the old school films, particulary Pride and Prejudice!
Happy Easter to you and your hubby, Miss Ellee.
