This is terrific news. There are reports that military authorities have signed an order authorising the release of Burma’s jailed democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, a woman whose dignity in adversity and oppression has won her worldwide admiration. The Nobel Peace Prize winner has spent more than 15 years in detention, most of it under house arrest at her home, for her political beliefs and stand against dictators. There are hopes now that she may be feed later this evening.
She was originally due to be released last year, but a case involving an American who swam across Inya Lake to her home, claiming he was on a mission to save her, prompted the latest 18-month detention.

What an amazing film her life story would make. Angelina Jolie could play her role perhaps?

*13 November, 12 noon. Stunning news. Aung San Suu Kyi has just been freed!!
