Headway Cambridgeshire, the charity I support for its wonderful work providing rehabilitation for adults with an acquired brain injury, is seeking a new CEO. It is a successful and thriving organisation with a dynamic business plan.
We have been very fortunate in having had Andrew Gardner lead us over the last three-and-a-half years, but he is now seeking a new challenge, having established us as a very successful and highly respected organisation. Andrew is leaving to lead Age UK Essex, and we wish him every happiness for his future success.
It means we need a new CEO, someone very special to fill his shoes, and details can be found on the Charity Job website. We would love to hear from you if are an inspirational leader committed to making a difference to the lives of others and can build on Andrew’s success.
*Here is some great news I can share with you. Newmarket jockey Hayley Turner, one of the top women jockeys in the UK, has pledged her support for Headway Cambridgshire and wants to raise money for us. Hayley, who suffered a head injury after falling from a horse, but has since made a full recovery, has volunteered her support when her racing schedule allows.
She has already made an impressive start. After a meeting at our offices, Hayley tweeted to her followers (almost 5,000) about her visit and the work we do – and immediately got a reply from her sponsors, satellite horseracing channel Racing UK. The channel came third in the Dubai Summer Festival Journalists Competition in December 2010 for their coverage at Newbury Racecourse last July. And they have generously chosen to give us their prize money of £1,250 – how good is that! Hayley also writes a blog for Racing UK.
We are so very lucky to have a woman with Hayley’s tremendous spirit support us. This is how The Times describes her:
The trouble with being Hayley Turner is that she is so damned good; and she is a woman. She is the most successful British female jockey. She is a history-maker, a barrier-breaker, but she does not want you to think of her this way. Her ambition is simply to be considered an unusually good jockey, not a jockey who is unusually good for a girl.
You are a true champion Hayley! Thank you 🙂
As I read this, I was relieved to learn that she made a full recovery. This sounds like a fine organization, Ellee!
