London’s burning no-go areas
Posted by Ellee on Aug 9, 2011 in Blog | 7 commentsAs the terrifying violence and looting continues to sweeps across London into parts of Ealing and Croydon during a third night of unrest, here is some advice for the government’s Cobra committee when it meets today, courtesy of a Sky New blog comment:
It is way past time that the Government call in the military to enforce law & order on the streets. This behaviour IS just opportunist criminality and nothing to do with social justice. Those with nothing to hide need not conceal their faces from the Police and media cameras. A swift curfew should be introduced & everybody made aware that any criminal behaviour will be dealt with severely by the army. Enough is enough – our Police force already have a nigh on impossible task on a daily basis & this kind of incident only further hampers them from protecting the general public under English law.
While a curfew would be unenforcable, the police clearly need back-up as riots are spreading to other parts of the UK, including Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool and it makes sense to call on our armed forces for support. If we have any left…..
And just imagine if this was happening one year ahead in 2012 during the Olympics, how would police and our already stretched emergency services cope then?

Terrifying scenes on CNN tonight. Come on England, get it together!

Well, other countries most certainly would not put up with it, Ellee. It is just thuggery but I wouldn’t be surprised if there are some agitators who want to ruin London’s reputation before the Olympics involved as well. Stay safe.
It’s all come home to roost. Lack of personal discipline. Mine was probably the first generation not to be whacked by teachers and therefore the first generation to start whacking teachers. I did not do it I hasten, but I saw it happen plenty of times and my education was ruined.
Four murderers from my comprehensive school by the time I’d left it.
Lord of the Flies has now become reality and the army will not put this genie back in the bottle.
I know what needs to be done. I think many in the Tory Party needs to be done – but no-one in authority has the guts to do it.
Our country is going down the pan with great rapidity and the World is witnessing it.
My only hope is that Australia, Canada, New Zealand et al learn from the disaster that is Leftism and how it can spoil everything it touches.
They are looters whon are looking for a fight. A lot in my city of Birmingham.I think the police a afraid to go in with too much force in case they cause bad injuries. I say if the looters are there, they know the risk.
The police are also afraid of the thousands of legal aid funded lawyers prepared to stick the boot in on them.
It’s not worth risking your life, liberty and pension if you’re a cop.
The Government won’t back you and the country doesn’t deserve it frankly.
Bring on the water cannons
Horrific. Appalling.
My heart goes out to all those whose lives, livelihood and homes are destroyed by these vandals, vile criminals of the lowest sort. Scars of the 1968 riots (after the assassination of ML King, Jr) in Washington, DC are still visible today.
