Thank you to the Daily Mail for today giving a whole page to a story about sepsis which I pitched to them at the end of last year while campaigning with UK Sepsis. It describes how a young father of four died after his eczema became infected a year ago.
The tragic story is highlighted in the paper’s Good Health supplement under the heading, “Within a day of his eczema being infected, Marc was dead”. It’s unbelievable, but true, and my heart goes out to his bereft family. UK Sepsis is campaigning for sepsis to be made a clinical priority as its symptoms can be misdiagnosed, and each death is a tragic loss.
We highlighted many case studies from around the country and achieved tremendous media coverage from leading regional press, as well as BBC and ITV, but the icing on the cake is to achieve positive national media coverage like this. But, it’s the case studies that personalises a campaign and gives it a beating heart, and we are immensely grateful to families for their support.
The story about Marc can be read here. Thank you Jo Waters.
Poor fella.
The DM is not all bad. In fact it’s mostly good. It’s just very convenient for Lefties to be able to dismiss a certain way of thinking as ‘Daily Mail’
It represents a lot of people.
The fact that it is moderate is manifest in the poor showing for right wing parties in the UK. Not even UKIP does well.
We-ell, the DM clearly represents Kevin 🙂
I think it’s great you got such coverage for this issue, Ellee. Well done x
