Eben Upton, founder of Raspberry Pi, is much in demand for videos and media interviews these days and I was lucky enough to catch up with him this week and record a video for Business Weekly, just moments after he had finished filming with BBC Look East.

The frenzy continues seven weeks after its launch with everyone wanting a slice of the ‘pi’ as Eben and his talented team hope to inspire our young people today to become the computer programmers of tomorrow, breathing new life and creativity into an area that was in danger of stagnating. For the unfamiliar, the Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that plugs into your TV and a keyboard.

He says: “We absolutely hope that, just as I’m sitting here saying there would be no Raspberry Pi but for the BBC Micro, in 20 years time people looking back will say they got into computer programming because of the influence of our device.

“We hope it will help to generate a new generation of engineers. So far the feedback has been very positive.”

You can discover more about Raspberry Pi and how it came about by playing the video below, and here is a link to another recording which shows Eben demonstrating the device.

I actually want to buy a couple myself for some geeky friends who I know will really love them. Why should kids have all the fun!
