I must admit I am disappointed with the first official portrait of the Duchess of Cambridge which has just gone on display the National Portrait Gallery.

I feel it does not embrace her spirit and youthful beauty, her vibrancy and happy inner glow which is plain for all of us to see.

Instead, we are faced with a sallow faced young women who looks much older than herself.  Where is the sparkle in her eyes? Why are her lips pursed so tight?

At least she didn’t have a bad hair day, and artist Paul Emsley was able to capture her glorious crowing glory which does justice for our future queen.
