I’ve twice seen Wasps play in championship finals – and they won both nail biting games with their last try. It was so dramatic and exciting.
We support them as a family because a former Wasps player from Ely was one of the founders of the local rugby club where both my sons played. (sorry, I can’t remember his name). Their team share the same waspy black and gold colours.
My husband is lucky enough to have been given a couple of corporate tickets to watch today’s gripping Guinness Premiership final against Leicester at Twickenham. How I wish I was going too, but he is taking David. I know they will have a great time.
It’s going to be particularly exciting as this will be captain Lawrence Dallaglio‘s final match before he retires. And what a captain he has been, winning almost every accolade in the game, and becoming the second most capped England player.
So come on you Wasps, I hope you finish with one last helluva win..
Good luck to them.
I heard Lawrence Dallaglio’s mother interviewed on the radio a few months back when I was driving somewhere or the other. She was great – such a normal person and very very amusing. So he probably is the great guy that he seems.
When my son was a toddler he used to call rugby “men falling over”.
Reluctant Blogger, I must admit I was relieved when both boys gave up rubgy. James often came off the pitch in pain with stud marks all over him. He used to play hooker, which of course, made everyone laugh. I used to worry sick that they would get badly injured. Even now, I have to look away when they pile on top of each other on the pitch.
A great result today, another victory for Wasps.
I’ve just spoken to David and he said he saw Prince Harry drinking a Guinness in the car park surrounded by his minders.
Looks like you will have two happy boys home tonight. Quite a performance. Big rugby day in my house too as my wife is a Kiwi and so we watched the Crusaders (Kiwis) beat the Waratahs (ozzies)in the Super 14 final this morning on Sky…a sort of down-under equivalent of the Wasps match today. Love sporting events like that don’t you!
David, absolutely, though it wasn’t such a nail biting match as the two matches I saw. I’d love to see the Crusaders play too, they are dynamite.
Sports is good exercise.
Congratulations to Wasps, and farewell to Dallaglio. He’ll be missed.
Well, I wouldn’t mind see that fine figure of a sportsman you’ve posted. Is he a “Wasp?”
Leslie, he is a Wasp, he is the captain that has just retired. A great beast of a man, I would feel totally dwarfed next to him.
Well, gee Ellee, if he isn’t taken, send him MY way! lol
