I do hope you will  be glued to both BBC Breakfast and ITV Daybreak tomorrow morning when they both feature the launch of Antibiotic Action, a global initiative to highlight grave concerns about the shortage of  modern antibiotics.

The BBC will include some case studies to highlight our desperate dilemma, with fears that one day human health could suffer by returning to a pre-antibiotic era as infections become increasingly resistant to these drugs.

And then ITV’s Dr Hilary Jones, who is speaking at our launch and joining us in delivering a petition at 10 Downing Street urging government to accelerate the licensing of antibiotics to speed up their delivery to the market, will explain his concerns to viewers.

If you miss both of these announcements, you might be able to catch up later in the morning when Prof Laura Piddock, president of the British Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy which set up Antibiotic Action initiative, is interviewed on Radio 4’s You and Yours programme.

There is still time to sign the petition so we can top 5,000. It has had tremendous support from clinicians and researchers around the country, and beyond, who have very real concerns about the crisis we face.

Can you imagine cutting your finger and dying because you have an infection that cannot be treated? This is the worst case scenario which we are all trying desperately to prevent.

You can sign the petition here.

Thank you!!!
