If you usually spend Friday nights blogging, you may have noticed it was a bit quiet on the Tory front last night. That’s because we met up in London. A few bloggers had arranged to get together for a pre-conference drink, and distance was no object for some.
I thought if Alan (Daily Propaganda) can hot foot it from Switzerland and Prageutory from the Czech Republic, then the least I could do was jump on the train from Ely to meet up with them, as well as William (Croydonian), Dizzy, Tom (Injured Cyclist) and a surprise and welcome appearance from Iain, in between his TV appearances and media appointments.
Can you identify which blogger fits the face? Thanks to Geoff for coming along too and taking the pic.
It was really good fun and I hope we can do it again sometime, invite a few others along too.
Btw, apologies for the late post, that dreaded Norton anti-virus was flashing red this morning and said I had an urgent problem that needed resolving immediately. Three hours later …..
Good to meet you too Ellee! Thank you for remembering your camera. I should have brought mine too!
Tom, I always have my camera with me, I still haven’t got the hang of using the one on my phone yet, but then I am a bit of a purist when it comes to photography.
It sounds like you had a good evening Ellee. When’s the convention coming to Oswaldtwistle?
Daily Pundit, it sounds a bit off the beaten track, I’m not even sure where it is, but I love the name, is it pretty?
Ellee – was great to meet you and the other guys. Although I arrived at 6 and left at closing time, there just wasn’t enough time was there? Certainly no chance of an awkward silence with us lot is there?
What a great event, Ellee; I would love to meet some of my blogging friends as well. If there’s an event in Birmingham, let me know!
Ellee-
Was this meeting strictly for invited guests – I never saw it mentioned to on any of the blogs to which you refer.
I attended a similar function about a year ago, arranged for politicalbetting.com devotees which was great fun.
Mike Smithson (who is actually a LibDem) writes brilliantly and objectively on this blog, to which a few MPs regularly contribute. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it is spoilt by a small number of cliquey posters, often sharing totally off topic private jokes, which is a shame as the concept is excellent.
Peter, it was a very informal gathering arranged as a result of Alan coming over from Switzerland and Praguetory too, for the Tory conferenc. They mentioned it to a couple of bloggers, including myself, and Iain was only invited the evening before. I guess most bloggers will be meeting up at the bloggers row in Bournemouth over the next few days.
It was originally a very small event that snowballed a little. I’m sure we’ll do it again. I’m a Brummie so hopefully we can do it there some time.
The more the merrier as far as I’m concerned. If we go to Brum we could always try to drag Bob Piper out…..
An excellent time was had by all, and the exercise is well worth repeating.
It was a fun night – good to meet everyone. Just wish I could have blogged about it sooner – next to no internet access at the conference.
Incidentally, I have roots in Brum too – I lived there for a few years. Maybe next time it should be Brum…..
