A breath of fresh air

beach And the fresh air doesn’t get much fresher - or more bracing - than on the North Norfolk coast. I shall breathe it in by the lungfull tomorrow as I walk the 12 mile scenic coastal path from Brancaster to Holkham with fellow members of Cambridge’s Simply Social Club.

It’s been a while since I have walked this distance. Both my big toe nails dropped off after my weekend in the Forest of Dean with the Ramblers, they have only just grown back again, and I hope I can manage to hang on to them this time. The problem was caused by not tying my laces tight or high enough, so my toes pushed forward into the front of the boot.

I must remember some plasters in case of blisters too…

Welcome to the world, baby Milan Scoble

image Since blog pioneer Robert Scoble’s lovely wife Maryam gave birth three hours ago to their uniquely named son, Milan William,  he has posted a dozen messages about it on Twitter (I share his network), as well as downloading pics of the lusty new arrival from his mobile phone’s camera.

This might annoy most women who have just given birth, but Maryam is a great blogger herself, and is most probably encouraging Robert to post the lastest news. She can also understand why the nurses are drooling over his iPhone, and just before going into labour, gave hubby a great looking Canon 5D camera.

Us Twitterers were naturally curious about Milan’s unusual name, and this is what the proud father said:

“Milan is, indeed, named after the city in Italy. Maryam always wanted me to take her to Italy and I never did. Milan came instead. :-)”

I think he owes her a visit now, don’t you? I only hope she likes it!

I wonder what children think about being named after cities or countries as they grow older, like Paris, India and Brooklyn, do they long to be called Stephen or Jack, Emma or Kylie instead?.

*My new “baby” came this morning, and I can’t wait for it to be setup, the slimline Dell Inspiron 530s. I’m hoping mine won’t give me sleepless nights and is well behaved!

The missing - Stefan Punch

Stefan Punch Stefan PUNCHwas last seen on 27 August, 2003 at a friend’s house in Cork County. His car was found the next day in County Clare. Since then, his phone has been switched off and his friends and family have not had any word from him.

He is around 5Ft 11inches, of lean build, has dark brown hair and tanned skin. When last seen, Stefan was wearing a dark blue check shirt, white T-Shirt, green baggy combat trousers and brown shoes. He was also seen with a purple business folder and his mobile phone. All attempts to contact his mobile phone have failed. He has a friendly, open disposition. Stefan’s family and friends are anxious to make contact with him.

Who knows the reasons that led to Stefan’s disappearance. What is certain is that he is very much missed by all those who care for him. I hope one day they can be reunited, that he does not remain a “missing” statistic.

In memory of those who are still missing.
