Your question for Question Time

image Apparently Question Time has a new look when it returns this evening, and we can email questions in advance to quiz the panelists.

Tonight they include Chief Whip Geoff Hoon; Conservative MP John Redwood; Lord Ashdown, former leader of the Liberal Democrats; editor Janet Street-Porter and CNN correspondent Christiane Amanpour.

However, it’s always the unpredictability of the audience that brings this live programme to life. I have previously admitted to having a soft spot for David Dimbleby. I was once in the audience, he had such a warm and open manner, he was great fun.

My hunch is that questions tonight could include the true cost of migrant workers in the UK, Northern Rock and the position of Mervyn King, supermarket price fixing, as well as the subject of ageism and Sir Menzies Campbell. What else do you think might come up? They usually throw in a light hearted one too, it might be about Mourinho’s shock departure from Chelsea.

You can check out if the programme is coming to your area and join in, it is great fun, and you get well fed too.

Update: Like Iain, I have heard that Brown could announce a general election on the last day of the Labour Party Conference. If nothing is said then, the chances are it won’t happen this autumn. Will this get a mention tonight?

Welcome to blogging, Stephen Fry

Stephen Fry’s first post on his new blog has shown him to be image something of a geek. Let’s hope he shares some gossipy tit bits about his theatrical life, as well as describing how he copes with depression.

I find Stephen Fry a totally fascinating man, I would love to have dinner with him, to fall under the spell of his hypnotic voice.

I walked by a restaurant in Burnham Market last year and saw him dining with friends. He looked so magnificent, they were enthralled by his every word, and I was rooted to the spot watching his body language, the way he was so entertaining and being admired.

His first post had the content of a double page newspaper spread. I hope this will be followed by some short and sweet literary revelations.

The missing – Stephen Hadley

It’s exactly a year today since Stephen Hadley was last seen, image aged 26. He had been staying with friends in Walsall when he disappeared.

He was last seen shopping in a supermarket at about 1pm on Wednesday, 20 September, and a few hours later he sent his mother a text message. Stephen has not been heard from since.

Stephen, who is originally from Devon, belonged to a band, and guitarist Chris Thomas and fellow musicians from Starskey wrote a special song for him.

Chris wanted the song to raise awareness about not only Stephen – aka Stevie G – but other people who, for whatever reason, have vanished across the country.

Chris is in close contact with Stephen’s mum Debby and after speaking to the charity Missing People, he has some idea of what it must be like for the family.

"The worst thing for the relatives is the not knowing – they know where they went, but they don’t know where they are.

"And when the door goes and every time the phone goes, you think, is it them or has something happened?"

Stephen’s mother must take some comfort from the kind actions of her son’s friends.

Stephen’s family and friends are extremely worried for his safety and urge him to get in touch and let them know that he is okay. He can call the confidential service Message Home on 0808 800 70 70.

In memory of those who are still missing.
