Can divorce ever be pain free?

imageWhen a divorce settlement is finally reached between the McCartneys, it is bound to have several noughts on the end. Some experts suggest it could beat the £48 million record, anything between £55 – £100 million. It seems a gross amount for a four-year-old marriage and could further alienate her from the public.

One of the first stories I remember reading about their courtship was how Paul cooked dinner for Heather one Halloween and adorned the room with lighted pumpkins. I can’t imagine anyone as romantic as that having one bad bone in his body, though nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors in a marriage.

At the end of the day, however fair or unfair it is, she has ended up with the tainted reputation and needs to consider how she can rebuild it.

I have a suggestion. As well as not slagging off her ex in public, she should donate half her newly acquired wealth to some of the charities her website says she supports, including No More Landmines, Darfur, environmental causes and animal protection. She will still have more than enough to keep her in luxury for the rest of her life, and can do some lasting good for many who are less fortunate than her.

If Heather wants to survive this very traumatic and public split, she needs to be seen out with the biggest smile, speaking very positively, showing no bitterness, being generous to a fault to all her charities, being very co-operative when making decisions about their daughter’s future and not using her as a weapon.

Heather, just remember the saying: "Smile And The World Smiles With You, Cry and You Cry Alone." Even if you are feeling like ….

Other divorced couples may empathise to an extent. Can divorce ever be pain free?

My Monday morning blues

I should be at my 8am Monday pilates class right now, I love image starting the week with a thorough head to toe stretch, only my usually very reliable Honda won’t start.

So I have borrowed my husband’s car at great inconvenience to him as he has a long commute, while he has borrowed his father’s car.

Luckily, mine brought me home safely from Norfolk last night where I had spent the day with my mother and sister enjoying the sea air. It was packed with like-minded motorists also heading for the coast to enjoy the sunshine, many of them dressed in summer clothes.

I have a hectic round of meetings today and, as it is the start of half-term, plenty of chauffeuring the boys around to their various activities from our village.

Working from home has many advantages, but also means I am constantly on call during school breaks. I still wouldn’t have it any other way.
