Our family is one of the tens of thousands who missed out on having our bank account emptied overnight to pay for Olympic tickets. I was keen to see diving, while my husband was geared up for athletics, cycling and boxing (he thought boxing would be a dead cert as there seemed to be much less interest in it).

I wouldn’t mind missing out if the system had been fair, but there doesn’t seem to have been a simple structure to it, particularly as other applicants have secured tickets for multiple events . How is it that in Germany, people can book tickets for specific events, they don’t a ridiculous system like ours where we are expected to pay upfront and find out later which events we can see.

Did you do better than us? Were you successful in your Olympic bid?
