The missing – Madeleine McCann

Yet another story is published today about a reported sighting of Madeleine McCann in Morocco.
A woman told detectives she even recognised the distinctive fleck in Madeleine’s eye, where her pupil runs into her iris.
Naoual Malhi, who alerted police about the sighting a month ago, said she had spotted Madeleine with an older woman, who tried to hide the girl.
"I knew the minute I saw her from close-up that it was Madeleine.
"She caught our attention because she was so blonde and pretty. As we walked up to them the woman tried to hide the girl behind her and shield her face.
"She was dressed in jeans and an orange jumper. She was exactly the same as in the pictures except she had a bump like a bruise on the left side of her forehead and her hair was a lot shorter, like a boy’s."
If that was the case, why didn’t the woman approach the child, speak to her, mention her suspicions to other adults nearby so they could approach them together.
If I had been in her shoes, I would have found it impossible not to speak to the child and ask her her name. If it turned out to be a case of mistaken identity, I would apologise to the family and explain my reasons, praise them for their lovely daughter and wish them a happy day.
I wouldn’t spend the rest of my time saying "if only I had …"

Estas noticias que dan cuenta que la han visto y siempre sucede algo que no sucede nada más allá de eso, francamente no les doy más crédito. Si he visto a la pequeña y he estado tan cerca como para darme cuenta de la marca distintiva en su ojo, cómo no hacer algo más? Definitivamente yo ya no creo en estos avistazos.
Por Madeleine, sólo espero que vuelva con los suyos. Si ya no está con vida que igualmente sea encontrada para que se le haga justicia.
If I had spotted the child, I would not have been able to walk away, without taking details, photos, approaching the police, calling the police or something…
I’ve always suspected pedo ring, but the distinctive eye will not ever be shared online in crude pics, or videos, so she might be murdered if stolen for that purpose.
If stolen as a child abduction for a lonely longing mother, that’s another story…

It would be very difficult to know what to do and we can all be wise in retrospect. I hope I would have the sense to call the police and alert other adults to keep an eye on the pair.
I overheard a couple at the airport today saying how they believe the Mcanns to be innocent, most people still do. I am afraid this may become one of those unsolved mysteries.
I know not what to think about this saga anymore. There’s so much spin. The bottom line is that Madeleine is still missing and possibly dead. As you say, if anybody had really caught sight of her they surely would have called out her name. It is a good thing that her photo has been so widely published: one automatically thinks of her if one sees a girl of her age and colouring in the street. We can only pray that she’s still alive and well.
